To take advantage of bulk billing, ensure you have a valid Medicare card and a referral from your GP or specialist. Please note, if your referral is from an allied health professional, there may be a small fee depending on the specific examination.

We understand that medical imaging can be a daunting experience, especially if it’s your first visit. At GXU Radiology, our friendly and knowledgeable staff prioritise your care and strive to ensure that you are fully informed about how to prepare for your procedure, what it involves, and what to expect on the day.

1 - Book an Appointment

Appointments are available at your fingertips with GXU’s online booking system. Select your examination, preferred date and time and upload your referral and your appointment will be booked in minutes. For more complex scans, contact our friendly reception team.

2 - Experience the GXU Difference

Arrive to your appointment confident in the knowledge that you are informed and prepared for your procedure. With cutting-edge technology and highly qualified staff, we are skilled in performing optimal imaging and providing timely and accurate diagnosis.

3 - Review your Results

Once your examination has been completed, one of our expert radiologists will provide a detailed report and images for your referring doctor. It is important that you review your results with your doctor to gain a better understanding of your health and arrange further treatment that may be needed.

Our Radiology Clinics

Most of our imaging is conducted at our Thornton practice, just a 30-minute drive from Newcastle and 10 minutes from Maitland. We’re conveniently situated within the Thornton Healthcare complex, which offers patients a range of other medical services including pathology, dental, physiotherapy, and podiatry.

Our MRI services are centrally located in Newcastle at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), behind John Hunter Hospital. As part of our collaboration with HMRI, we utilise cutting-edge imaging technology in a modern, research-driven facility, ensuring patients receive the highest quality diagnostic care.
